Best Korean Serums – Buying Guide 2017

LOOKING FOR AN EXTRA BOOST FOR YOUR SKIN? READ ON...

Ahh...the beauty industry. Hundreds and thousands of varieties, beautifully labeled to appeal to women and men all over the world. We are definitely spoiled for choice when it comes to popular beauty products in America. However, our industry is no match to the diversity of products used for beauty in Korea. On average, women in Korea use between 14-18 beauty products DAILY. Understandably, choosing the right products can be tricky since there is an overwhelming amount of options. Well, beauty fanatics, it's you're lucky day. We decided to delve into a specific product, serums, and did the research for you. We found the best Korean serums out there and tested them just for you.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE BEST KOREAN SERUMS

For those of you who are a little confused as to what a serum is, you're not alone. Not only is it difficult to decipher Korean characters on the back of the bottle, it is also very hard to understand what each product actually does for you. Luckily, that's why we're here, and also why you are still reading this (yay, we have your attention!). Serums are generally the fifth step in the 10 step Korean beauty routine. They also fall in the same category as essences and ampoules.

So what's the difference between an essence, serum, and ampoule? Well, it pretty much goes by concentration, in this case lowest to highest. Serums are slightly more concentrated than essences, and are a little more affordable than ampoules. We love serums for this reason since they are a perfect balance of both.

Now you know what serums are, what does it actually do for your skin? Serums are miracle workers when it comes to targeting specific issues with skin. If you have large pores, there are pore tightening serums that reduce the appearance and size of them on your face. Suffer from breakouts and acne? There's a serum out there for you. Find out what your problem areas are on your skin to help define which product is best for you. We went ahead and found some of the top rated serums and tested them. These are the categories that we found would help you choose the best Korean serums for your skin!

Target Skin Problem

This is essentially the whole reason why you decided to incorporate a 10 step Korean beauty routine in the first place. Serums are used to target specific problem areas on your skin since they have a higher concentration than typical cleansers and moisturizers.

Moisturizing

Keeping your skin moisturized is one of the first 101 tips for anti-aging skin care. Serums are packed with extra hydration, which can be handy if you feel like your moisturizer isn't giving enough hydration for your skin in dryer seasons and climates.

Dispenser

When it comes to Korean beauty products, they sure do take pride in their packaging. Many of these products come in different kinds of dispensers which make application that much easier. Keep an eye out for those that you feel like you can work best into your routine.

Cost

Yes, we understand that buying international products can be a bit pricey. Sometimes, for the lucky few, this isn't always an issue for everybody. However, if you're trying to keep your wallet healthy as well as your skin, keep an eye out for this category.

You know that amazing feeling you get when you apply a beauty product overnight and wake up with super fresh, soft, smooth skin? Yeah, we do too. That's because we tested this marvelous product and we are in LOVE!

This serum is absolutely incredible when it comes to hydrating super dry skin. Plus, a little goes a long way with this product. Only one pump can cover your face, leaving it smooth and fresh even to the most parched skins. It also has a quick absorbancy and soaks right into your skin, so you don't have an oily, greasy feeling with the product on.

Not only is this product extremely effective, it also contains very popular fermented ingredients that are great for improving the texture of your skin. It also doesn't contain any seriously harsh chemicals, so you can rest easy knowing this is only benefiting your epipdermis. Overall, we LOVE this product, and for the price, it's worth every penny!

For years, grean tea has proven to be beneficial to our bodies in so many ways. Yet again, green tea has come to the rescue, and in this case, it's helping our skin glow!

First and foremost, what makes this product unique is that it utilizes organic green tea seeds in order to keep your skin balanced and moisturized. Most of the time, skin care products are packed with bizarre chemicals that are hard to know what their really for let alone even prounounce. This serum is very natural and free of parabens as well as animal ingredients (go vegans!). It's also got a lovely scent that keeps your skin smelling fresh while it moistens.

We love this product for it's versatility and suitability for all skin types. However, the only thing is the benefits don't last too long, so you have to keep using the product for it to maintain it's moisture. Regardless, we love it, and for the price, it's a must to keep in your beauty drawer.

Usually, when we are searching for a skin care product, we find that "peeling" and "removing dead skin" is extremely effective in terms of revealing a fresh layer of skin. This serum executes this with ease. For those of you who are looking to get rid of acne and other lingering dead skin cells, this peeling serum does the job effectively.

However, this is pretty strong, so if it's your first time using an AHA, be careful! You might want to start off with a little bit first and work your way until your skin is used to it. We found that this serum is most effective removing white heads and unclogging pores. It also has no smell, so if you're sensitive to scents, you're in luck!

Overall, we feel like this is an excellent exfoliating serum. It fights acne and removes existing blemishes, leaving your skin extra smooth. It can be a little harsh on sensitive skin, so make sure you're able to use an AHA serum before you dive right into it!

If you got a chance to read about how amazing Korean Snail Creams, then you'll know how effective this bizarre ingredient actually is on your skin. This serum is best of both worlds, utilizes the concentrating power of serum while intensly moisturizing with snail extracts.

The actual texture of the product is very smooth and light. It's not overly mositurizing where you feel sticky/tackiness, and it absorbs fairly quickly into the skin after application. It has a nice pleasant smell as well that's not too overpowering and is easy to dispense the proper amount with the push pump.

Finally, we love this product because it contains some decent ingredients that are generally not cheap, but it won't cost you an arm and a leg to treat your skin with this serum. We also recommend this product for those who don't have too many serious issues with their skin and just want a good hydrating serum to introduce into their skin routine.

For those of you that need a extra little oomph in your moisturizer, this is the perfect serum for you. This product lives up to it's name "water drop" because it is so hydrating like water, but is also not sticky like other oily moisturizers yet still keeps your skin feeling smooth. It works wonderfully as a moisturizer or if you need a smoother makeup removal.

The product comes with a hygenic pump that delivers the same amount of product every time you use it. The texture is also very light but still oily enough to keep your skin moisturized long after use. We loved this product because we felt like it reduced the presence of fine lines and wrinkles.

When I was at the Face Shop store, the sales woman told me that this product is for a younger generation, probably because it's not a super concentrated formula. If you're looking for something with super powers, I would suggest going with something a little more heavy on the oil base.

Before you suffer from cardiac arrest after lookinag at the four $ signs we gave this product, you might want to keep reading this review. There's a damn good reason why this product is expensive, because it works really REALLY well! This is the ultimate brightening serums that we saw results within the FIRST use.

The texture of this serum is like beads of silk (if that was even possible) mixed with a gentle smooth oil. It blends into your skin with ease and the formula is HIGHLY concentrated. A little certainly does go a long way with this product. If you're as obsessed as we are with brightening, you'll be happy with this product. It gets the job done and lasts a long time since you only need to use a small amount.

We highly recommend this product for those who may have a little extra spending cash, or for those who want an extremely effective product. It's basically like all the other serums on steroids and acts as a brightener and moisturizer simultaneously.

Finally, a serum that could hydrate the Sahara desert with ease! Well, maybe not the desert, but it will definitely hydrate your skin if you decided to visit a dry place. For those who follow K Beauty, you definitely know and love Laneige and know their products are excellent. This serum lives up to the brand's awesome reputation.

Unlike other serums, this serum is slightly opaque. The texture is ultra smooth and hydrating. We would probably recommend it for skin that is very dry to oily. Anything above really oily skin might be a little too moisturizing for your skin, but if you like a little extra hydration, then by all means go for it!

All in all, this product is an excellent hydrator. It keeps your skin super healthy and smooth and doesn't cause any unwanted breakouts. We definitely reommend this especially for the dryer climates and seasons.

Finally, there's a serum that's made especially for OILY skin! We all know that most beauty products emphasize moisture. But for those who have super oily skin, it's harder to find products that work for you. This serum is extremely effective and keeps your skin clear and the oils controled and off your face.

We love how this product feels on the skin. It's super smooth and dries really quickly (and when I mean quickly, I mean QUICKLY) so make sure to be ready to dab it into the skin rather than rubbing it in. This product also works excellently as a primer base for your foundation if you find yourself blotting the oils off of your face throughout the day.

Overall, we love this products, but when it comes to minimizing pores, it's not realy that effective. However, it works as an excellent oil reducer and doubles as a primer!
